Re: A "When the Nickel Dropped" Story - Sometimes It's Something So Small
I really love this story! I love the focus on the students' interests and how it leads to the building of relationship, and how this effort had the unanticipated impact of identifying a major talent, with ensuing benefits for the child and teacher in the classroom. It has all the elements that you would anticipate from a knowledge of human, child, and lifespan development, and it played out with just a little attentiveness from the teacher. What a great example of resilient teaching. I hope...

Erin, I would suggest you consult with the child's trauma therapist. Any child that has a trauma history should (and would greatly benefit) from having a "Trauma Trigger Management Plan." Avoiding triggers creates a fine line to walk. In a classroom setting - I think it's very important to avoid triggers - in a personal confidential and therapeutic setting - where a child may want help processing a trigger - is a different scenario but should only be addressed by a team working with that...

Hello everyone, I am going to add a link to what I like to use. I am clearly biased as I work for another branch of the same company. We are not mandated however to utilize but I do integrate this workbook with other materials which target other relevant topics for my populations. The workbook I use seems to cover many of the topics highlighted. There is also a manual. NeuroLogic® Workbook: You Can Change Your Mind by Kathy Van Horn Hopefully this helps. Heloise

Re: Child Trauma and the Challenge of Inclusive Education
Thanks for sharing this article! I've heard different stories about inclusive education. For me, the main thing is that children receive high-quality knowledge and can feel free in society. Although, I think that it's never too late to study, and now I'm preparing for advanced training. I need to write personal statement and prepare other required documents. I hope to get a positive answer and again plunge into the world of knowledge.
