What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)
Director of Development at AIDS Alabama, a non-profit in Birmingham, AL. I am currently spearheading the Capital Campaign for the Way Station, Alabama's only crisis stabilization shelter and transitional living housing program for homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth.
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
I work for AIDS Alabama. Inc. I volunteer with the Outreach Team at Canterbury United Methodist Church, and with Meals On Wheels at the United Way of Central Alabama.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I knew of ACEs through my work, but learned so much more during a local webinar hosted by One Place, a domestic violence advocacy agency in Birmingham. ACEs and Trauma Informed Care training will be integral to the success of the programs to be offered at the Way Station.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
One Place hosted "Adverse Childhood Experiences: The Harm of Trauma & the Healing of Hope." I hope this will be an ongoing initiative.
