What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)

Roger Kluck, Executive Director for Projects for a Civil Society. – Roger is a mediator and trainer in communication, team building, empathy, compassion, conflict transformation, trauma recovery and nonviolence. In addition to extensive mediation training, Roger has training in Nonviolent Communication, Compassionate Listening, and facilitation. He works primarily with the Alternatives to Violence Project (“AVP”). Roger has been an AVP facilitator for 15 years. He served 4 years as the president of AVP-USA and serves currently as the North American member of the Coordinating Committee for AVP International. He has done over 2000 hours of workshops in prisons, 4 years with incarcerated veterans, as well as doing workshops in schools, community and even internationally in Guatemala, El Salvador and Iran. In conjunction with the World Affairs Council Roger has facilitated workshops for groups from over 30 countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Trinidad, Kenya and more, as well as youth from Brazil, Myanmar, Mexico and Iraq. Earlier in his career Roger worked as a lobbyist for the Friends Committee on Washington Public Policy on criminal justice reform and worked over 20 years as an environmental attorney.

What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?

I do work across the spectrum of society where trauma is abundant. I work both ends of the prison to school pipeline - in schools and prisons. I also do trauma recovery workshops for groups including social workers, therapists, and veterans.
