What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I am a co-editor of the book Parenting with PTSD: the impact of childhood abuse on parenting. I am a survivor of childhood abuse with an ACE score of 9, and have spent nearly 20 years working in the trenches of the mental health system. I use both my personal and professional experience to write, speak, and facilitate conversation; helping to repair the systemic cracks witnessed nearly all my life.
I'm the Program Director for a mental health adult community residence in Saratoga Springs, NY. Over the last three years, I have dedicated myself to evolving the model for residential care to one that includes trauma informed staff, programming, and practices. It's not only the responsible thing to do, it's personal for me. It's time to help people get to the source of maladaptive behaviors, and no longer just band aid the ripple effects of trauma.
