What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto where I specialized in Clinical Counselling in Mental Health. In addition, I have been interested in early experiences and the connection to brain development and have been working in the community with families in different capacities for over 25 years. I developed and facilitated parenting programs and researched best practices in the area of early brain development, trauma and mental health. As part of this work I was Chair of the Board of Gemma an organization promoting infant mental health. Currently I am working with the Brain Builders Lab, Atlantic Canada team working to embed the Brain Story training into professional standards of practice. I have experience counselling individuals dealing with complex mental health and addiction issues in Child Protection Services, as a private counselor and in my current role as director of the Blue Door program at Thrive.
