What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I believe understanding and addressing ACEs is the most meaningful way to facilitate social transformation. I am an adult survivor of ACEs even though I experience many factors of privilege. My passion is inspiring humility within privileged individuals through awareness of the effect of ACEs as a result of historical, intergenerational, collective trauma. My ACEs were the result of cultural prejudice, oppression, and patriarchy perpetrated within my own family. I believe colonial consciousness is the number one cause of ACEs, and until we the privileged acknowledge ourselves as also being affected, we will continue to attribute the issues and the responsibility for addressing them to "others." Many have difficulty facing the truth of their own historical pain, but I believe I'm not the only one who lived most of my life deluded. The ACE Study corroborated that belief for me, for which I am very thankful, humbled and impassioned to educate to shift perspectives and social priorities to create an equitable just compassionate healthy humanity.
